Enterprise focus

For this project I will be making informative posters focused on the blind and visually impaired, this is a topic that is close to me as my dad is blind and I feel that I can bring a unique perspective and feel to informative posters.

Our task for the second week was to create an infographic about this project, we had to include examples of innovators and disruptors in the industry, along with an example of a small business and a large business.

During my research I got an understanding of what people are already doing, most of what I have seen is the inclusion on touch surfaces and objects that people can move which reveal more information to the reader.

Innovator and disruptors

There are a number of innovators in this industry, being...

-Augmented reality:

Innovator- Develops posters that, when viewed through a smartphone or tablet, come alive with animations, 3D models, or additional interactive content.

Disruptor- Makes AR accessible and seamless, perhaps removing the need for a separate app by integrating with web-based AR, disrupting traditional print advertising by merging physical and digital worlds in a more immersive and convenient way.

-Motor sensing posters:

Innovator- Designs posters equipped with sensors that respond to the movement of people nearby. The poster might change its content or visuals when someone approaches or interacts with it.

Disruptor- Incorporates cutting-edge technology like gesture recognition, allowing viewers to control what is displayed on the poster simply by moving their hands, or even by voice commands. This could revolutionize how we interact with public displays, making static information dynamic and customizable.

-Interactive touch posters:

Innovator- Creates posters that behave like touchscreen interfaces, letting users interact directly with the content by tapping, swiping, or zooming. It could present layers of information, games, or even allow users to contribute their own input.

Disruptor- Brings tactile feedback into the design, integrating technologies like haptic feedback, so users can feel textures or vibrations as they interact with the poster. This could be especially powerful in retail, gaming, or educational spaces, creating an almost physical connection between the viewer and the brand or message.

Some examples of big and small businesses...

Big Business Example: Google (Google Creative Lab or Google Arts & Culture)

While not traditionally focused on poster design, Google is a major player in interactive digital experiences, including projects that involve augmented reality (AR), machine learning, and AI-driven interactions. Through initiatives like Google Arts & Culture, they have created interactive digital exhibitions and visual experiences, leveraging technology to bring static art and posters to life.

For instance, they’ve developed AR tools that allow users to explore famous artworks or posters in immersive ways using just their smartphones. A business of Google’s scale would focus on global, cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible with interactive design, incorporating everything from AI and AR to real-time data integration.

Small Business Example: Wild & West Creative Studio

Wild & West Creative could be an example of a small business in this space, focusing on interactive print design and AR poster campaigns. A studio like this might serve local brands or independent projects, creating custom AR posters for concerts, events, or retail stores. Their expertise would likely combine traditional print techniques with interactive technology, such as integrating AR animations or real-time data via QR codes.

Smaller studios like Wild & West might focus on affordable, custom solutions for businesses looking to enhance customer engagement through interactive poster campaigns but on a smaller, more localized scale compared to a giant like Google.
