For my third-year uni research project, I set out to design the full brand identity for what would be the 11th Formula One team—Cadillac, the American car manufacturer.
The first step was choosing the team’s colours. Cadillac’s signature colours are yellow, red, and blue, but since so many F1 teams already use blue, I went with yellow to help the team stand out on the grid.
Next, I dove into sponsorship research, looking at brands that have partnered with Cadillac and its parent company, General Motors. I also considered sponsors that drivers typically bring with them. For my driver lineup, I chose Valtteri Bottas, Franco Colapinto, and Lia Block, factoring in their existing sponsors to influence the team’s partnerships.
With the drivers and sponsors sorted, I moved on to designing the livery. I took inspiration from Cadillac’s endurance racing hypercars and studied other concept designs to create a look that felt true to the brand while fitting the F1 aesthetic.
